Taiwan Earthquake nearly made me “Internet-less”

I am sure you heard about the Taiwan Earthquake and the disruption of the Internet submarine cable and the Asia world nearly being cut off from the US blah blah blah.

What’s the real effect on me?

  • No MSN IM for me. Absolutely cannot sign on at all.
  • Little Yahoo IM too… it’s a “now you see it,  now you don’t” situation. It’s always connecting and disconnecting.
  • No www.google.com, or even google.com.sg for that matter. All the servers must be hosted in the states.
  • No www.franklincovey.com for me too. The site is already slow on normal days, so these few dasys? Impossible to reach.
  • No www.hotmail.com. Of course no email access… my friend archived her important files on Hotmail. So,  we prayed that she won’t need those files for a while.
  • No www.wordpress.com. How to pen down my thoughts?! Geez…

And while I don’t use it, I am sure people are frustrated that they can’t get on www.secondlife.com, ,the stock exchanges,  internet banking etc… but I also want to give thanks to:

  • Skype – it worked in the midst of the disasters. I’m giving Skype a more better opinion now.
  • Yahoo – it worked,  so I am not stuck totally…

Now, I guess we know how it felt like to be ‘crippled’ in the new information highway sorta way. Hehehe…
