I once heard that they were paid either by the hour; or a lump sum based on them distributing x number of flyers. Now you can understand why they just shove the flyers into your hands, regardless if you are the right audience or not. Frankly, the only time I remember a flyer distributor 'screening' her audience, was in Tokyo - and she was handing out promotional flyers for the soap land (for guys). So naturally I didn't get one, even though I was actually interested in it (attracted by the colours on the flyer). Keys1, this is so true.
